This paper employs mobility matrices, univariate regressions and multivariate econometric techniques based on the recently published Brazilian National Household Sampling Survey to investigate relevance of gendered patterns in intergenerational transmission educational attainment. The empirical evidence from these three different approaches is absolutely unanimous: In Brazil there a significant variation degree across genders, with higher level for daughters than sons. reason this gender gap lies chances attaining levels: regardless background parents, females have lower chance remaining without school certificate greater probability achieve tertiary education. study has demonstrated also that attainment children strongly associated education their most educated parent, correlation female male.
